Technical Writing

I have worked in technical writing for three years with experience in creating clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation for complex systems and processes. My work spans a variety of formats, including user manuals, knowledge bases, process guides, and training materials.

With a strong foundation in both writing and technology, I bridge the gap between technical teams and end-users. I specialize in translating complex technical concepts into accessible content for diverse audiences, ensuring clarity, usability, and consistency across all documentation.

Below I have included a few examples of my work with narrations that discuss my experience with each piece. The narrations will clarify and ensure understanding of the processes.

TWC Project Proposal

Throughout the process of working on this project proposal, there were numerous concepts that were prioritized to cater toward this business document. The learning process focused on analysis and technical solutions to best improve communication and articulation of the business’s values. This journey helped me develop a much deeper understanding of user experience and how this can be improved through format, word choice, and technicality.

This assignment was focused on creating a clearer and more organized document for a business of our choosing. With my previous experience working at this company, I felt that my knowledge of the customer profiles would strengthen my ability to create the ideal user experience. A main priority was maintaining brand identity while also improving the document; this gave me a chance to show the customer about the business’s values and expectations. Reading through the document, I was looking for global edits as well as minor refinements. Because this form already had decent wording and grammar, the focus shifted to mainly global edits; these edits consisted of excessive wording and difficult navigation which disrupts the user experience.

A few TWC outcomes I focused on throughout the editing process of this project proposal included document design and user-centered communication. These outcomes aligned with my goal of creating an effectively formatted and easy-to-read document for the customer. Meeting the customer’s expectations was extremely important throughout this process. This project’s learning process is important in both my current and future professional life as it reinforced previous editing skills that I will continue to use forever. I also revisited the importance of audience awareness in technical writing; knowing who the audience is helps tailor the proposal to fit their needs.

TWC Website Analysis

Working on this website analysis gave me plenty of insight into user experience in digital media. Some of the most important outcomes in this project were critical thinking skills and analytical skills; both of these concepts are crucial to TWC and in web design.

Analyzing Zara’s website was interesting to me as they have previously faced criticism for an ineffective and confusing platform. Wondering whether or not they had fixed certain aspects of the website, I entered the site and began analyzing everything from the models to the layout. Immediately, the models stood out to me; there seemed to be a severe lack of diversity with the men and women on the website. There was a pattern of extremely thin, white individuals modeling Zara’s clothing. Furthermore, the size of the font was concerningly small and posed an issue for visually impaired individuals. With these issues considered, I identified issues with Zara’s technical communication effectiveness. There seemed to be a lack of representation and access for all certain users; this is a necessary step in creating an efficient and ethical platform.

Despite the setbacks, Zara did seem to improve the navigational aspects of the website. It was much easier to operate and the minimalist design ensured the user’s not overwhelmed. The design elements of Zara’s site were effective in creating a positive user experience; this taught me more about the importance of usability and engagement. I explored the TWC outcomes of this website analysis, specifically being user experience, analysis skills, and critical thinking skills. As I advance into new analysis projects, I will remember the importance of adaptation and user centered communication in digital media. I learned how quickly the internet develops and how criticism from users triggers change; websites must be able to adapt. The ability to recognize when a website needs to change is crucial to understanding audience needs and expectations. Ultimately, this website analysis pushed my knowledge on digital media performance and user experience.

TWC Review of Literature

In this literature review, the learning process focused heavily on research to truly understand the impact of social media on young girls and their development. Gathering information, data, and analytics of this issue then presenting the concept in a structured way aligned with TWC outcomes.

Researching this topic reinforced my previous belief that social media is detrimental to young children, especially girls. This literature review focused on the three most prevalent points found while researching: mental health effects, body image issues, cyberbullying, and overall health disparities. Throughout this learning process, I concentrated on source and author credibility as well as fact-checking. These TWC skills helped to create a powerful and convincing literature review.

Performing this review of literature reinforced values that will assist with any upcoming technical writing projects that I will work on. With a sensitive topic such as this one, it is important to remember audience awareness and experience. Furthermore, literature reviews help develop analytical and critical thinking skills while also working on presenting data. Important conversations require effective communication. Overall, the TWC skills learned in this project include research evaluation, efficient communication, and data presentation.
